Combining an evocative mix of pure sound control with detail and dynamics, speed and sophistication; the "Power Hi-Fi" concept developed by Focal has all the hallmarks of reference quality range. The aramid fibre inverted dome tweeter combines smoothness, precision and slight directiviy, optimizing imaging and producing an astonishingly broad and realistic soundstage. This key component, too often neglected, makes the difference between a good and an excellent installation.

Distinguishing features from 165KR are:
(a) two-ohm impedance, to match the OEM amplifiers of many imported cars
(b) phase plugs

The two-ohm impedance will not present any problems when used with any modern amplifier or high-powered head unit in a conventional 4-ohm system.
The phase plugs give additional clarity and resolution to the midrange.
This kit will deliver outstanding sound-quality. Focal build speakers with sound quality as the principal aim, their research team is not controlled by the sales department. This speaker kit will no doubt be a proud successor to the 165K2P which won the 2007 Sound and Image Awards for Car Loudspeaker of the Year, and its predecessor 165KX which won the 1998 Sound and Image Award in the same category.

An 11" subwoofer is often a better choice where sound quality takes precedence over SPL (volume).
